Week 2 - First Video Released

I did it! I really did it! I learned some basics on video editing software. Enough so I could edit some videos and get them up on my new YouTube channel. Jenny Fish Knits!

I decided to go with the basic of all basics - how to make a slip knot. Most projects start out with a slip knot. With that being the case I jumped right in. Made a practice video. I'm still working on the background. I don't like the color of my table very much. In the next video I put down a rug for contrast. I'm not sure I like that either. But I'll keep trying out things until I like it.

I found Canva. Then played around and created an intro and something that can be used as a logo for now.

That took a bit of time and I'm not 100% sure how I did it. I just played around until I got something I liked. I'm sure I will tweak it over time.

This week I started on the task of organizing my studio. Here are some before pictures:

I know! It is BAD! I did manage to clear out 2 trash bags of stuff and clear out my desk area and my studio table.

This truly is a great space. I'm still working on getting it under control. I will post pictures when I have it finished. I see a lot of yarn ball winding in my future!

I found the oldest yarn I have in my stash. I purchased this yarn 20 years ago.
I decided to take it out and finally make something with it. After digging it out I found I have 7 balls of this Dynasty Yarn BouclĂ©. First things first - make a swatch. After casting on and starting the swatch, the yarn spoke to me. It want's to be a simple scarf. So, I'm helping it along and soon it will meet it's destined design.

I also worked on my Social Media. You can now follow me on the following

I also applied for a position with a yarn company. I have to say, I received the nicest rejection letter ever! I actually felt bad for her that she had to tell me no... Crazy huh! All in all, the position had been filled before I submitted my resume. However, they asked that I keep checking with them and submit again if they have an opening that inspires me. Even if this isn't true, no hard feelings with this yarn company and I will keep checking with them.

I also checked in a couple of jobs outside my normal area. Got sucked into a Travel Agency program that they wanted me to pay them a monthly fee to work for them... huh? Nope, not for me! Even if they give great discounts for vacations.

Now it's time to get this week started... More videos, more cleaning, more organizing and a lot more social media coming soon!

Welcome to Jenny Fish's World

 Welcome to Jenny Fish's World.

My World is crazy, exciting, fun and full of life's ups and downs.

Welcome. First things first, I am a knitter who designs knitting patterns and until recently I made knitting videos for a yarn company's YouTube Channel. I loved my job and I loved sharing my knitting designs and experience with the online world. Then a little over a week ago I got the dreaded call. Basically, the content I was providing was no longer needed. It was a business decision, nothing that I was doing wrong.

I took a week to breathe. I was in shock, disoriented and lost. My husband Nate, who is my biggest fan and supporter, told me we will be okay. He assured me we had this and that with my knowledge and talent I could go out on my own and rule the world. Aren't superheroes the best? He is by the way, the best! Although I may not want to to rule the world. I do need to rule my personal world. So I went to work and came up with a plan or sorts. At least I think so...

Step 1: Make sure to do something productive every day.

I have decluttered the hearth room.

Helped my 9 year old son declutter his room.

I rearranged and deep cleaned the dinning room.

Signed my 6 year old daughter up for gymnastics.

I did the business taxes. Expenses and sales reports for the accountant are now officially done and turned in! Whoop Whoop! (My husband and I own a seasonal Fireworks Retail Business)

Totally updated and reviewed my resume (it's been 9 years). I have even sent it out to another yarn company.

I ordered a new laptop. Received it and sat through the monotonous process of installing antivirus software and entering all my logins.

Created a new Gmail account. Got rejected. Figured out how to appeal. Won appeal and now have a new email address that is more "on brand".

Tilled one raised bed and planted peas.

Did all the laundry in the house, I mean ALL the laundry.

Step 2: Make sure to do something for me everyday.

Knitted on a basic garter stitch pattern.

Played a ton of Animal Crossing New Horizon.

Listened to 3 audiobooks.

Had a couple of lunches with friends.

Today I decided to start a blog. So, I did. Maybe it's just for me, or maybe someone will find this entertaining, insightful or they are interested in what is going on in my life.

Step 3: Come out of my shell and connect with people.

I'm going to post on social media. Wish me luck!
